Me singing "Pumped Up Kicks" by Foster The People

Coachella 2012

I was browsing online through my daily lifestyle blogs and i came across this super LEGIT belt pack by BRUXE on Thrillest. It retails for $60 and i got it for only $30! All i could think of when i saw this was "COACHELLA 2012." This past Coachella i was using my American Apparel jacket as a belt pack because it conveniently folds into a belt pack, but it got annoying because when i wanted to wear my jacket when it got cold i had no where to put my stuff! i cant wait till Coachella 2012 its going to be more EPIC than this last one.

Sustainable Designs.

School project.

1. The ‘Folded Take-away” is a clever crepe holder design created by Lauren Schimming from the University of Kansas. This product was specifically created for the company AB Coffee and Crepes. Lauren was a regular customer and every time she went she noticed that they were using Styrofoam clam-shell take out boxes and she decided to take action and invent something that was eco-friendly and would be able to be multifunctional. The design she came up with is shaped like a flat cone that will cradle the crepe so it won’t get all over the place. The main “sustainable strategy” here is that the casing turns into a plate so that the person eating the crepe can have something to eat off of without having to grab a separate plate to add to the trash.

2. Everyone wants to reduce the amount of waste that they accumulate on a day-to-day basis. This can all start at lunchtime. We all want to save money so we bring our lunches to our jobs. Product designer Crystal Figlietti was the award-winning designer of the ‘Reusable Fresh Snack Pack.’ The company of this product is Go Fresh. The bags are made up of PVC-free non-toxic plastic and are made up of thick EVA (Ethylene-vinyl acetate), which allows it to be reusable. This snack pack was tested at a school for a whole year and the results were that the bags were being used for the next school year!

3. The 60 Bag is probably one of the most interesting sustainable products in the market today. Instead of using plastic bags that are harmful to the earth, Poland designers Katarzyna Okinczc and Remigiusz Truchanowicz came up with a fully biodegradable bag that degrades in 60 days. This product is made up of “flax-viscose non-woven fabric.” This material according to their website means that the flax-viscose fabric is produced with flax fiber industrial waste and it doesn’t exploit any natural resources and requires minimal energy during its production. There are also a variety of designs to choose from.

4. Puma shoes have been around for a long time. In an effort to make a change to help the environment Puma has teamed up with the amazing designer of Fuseproject, Yves Behar. It took 40 prototypes to finally come up with the best shoebox design. The final product they came up with was named the “Clever Little Bag.” It uses 65% less paper and reduces the amount of water, energy, and diesel consumption by 60%. With this design it allows the consumer to reuse the outer bag as a reusable tote.

5. Having a party would require a lot of cleaning up after it’s all over especially with dishes. The last thing we want to do is use plates that are disposable and harmful to the environment. There is a solution to help this and it involves no washing dishes! A company called BAMBU designed a fully biodegradable set of utensils and plates. Their main tagline is, “a brand of distinctive products made from renewable materials created with imagination and integrity. Design with the Planet in Mind.” Everything that this company designs is entirely made up of renewable and recycled materials. This product has been tested and it is fully biodegradable and it disintegrates completely.

Found this on tumblr and i couldnt help but watch the entire thing! this amazing artist, Mikito Ozeki, literally cut out every piece to create such a beautiful work of art. This is very inspirational. Now that school is over i plan on painting, drawing, and designing a lot more pieces to add to my portfolio.

Lately Ive been having this urge to read...which is odd because if you know me i dont really read books. but ever since i got my job at Nordstrom and having to take bart as well as longer lunches i have felt the need to get a book.

i have decided to read these two books that are classics. Ive read One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest in high school? i cant remember but i know ive read it and i would like to reread it. Also Tuesdays with Morrie which i found very inspirational.

Jazmine Sullivan Is The Next Best Thing To Lauren Hill.

I am OBSESSED with Jazmine Sullivan's Love Me Back album. After being introduced to her album in SB i have her album on repeat. My friend Sophia mentioned that she is the next best thing that we have since Lauren Hill and i cant agree with her more. Her lyrics, passion, and sound are simply amazing. I dont know why she would want to retire already. she is seriously good and i suggest you listen to her album! here are a few songs that i cant stop listening to!

06-jazmine sullivan-redemption
Jazmine Sullivan - Love You Long Time
08-Jazmine Sullivan - U Get On My Nerves (Duet With Ne-Yo)

Booze, Beach, and White Girls.

My trip to Santa Barbara was just what i needed. I seriously LOVE my friends. We had some laughs, tears, debates on music/life (got outta hand lol), and played some fun drinking games. I seriously cant wait to go back. Thanks Ishmael for the hospitality!

First night we chilled at my friends apartment and did our gift exchange from our Secret Santa.. and Ishmael got me again! i swear his gifts are always bomb! he got me these and an itunes gift card!

second night we went to a bar and a club! It was college night and the first Thursday back in school so it was pretty crazy!!! we pregamed at SANDBAR which played hella good music and then moved on to TONIC Lounge. it was supper fun...i would say that its some what like PEARL in SJ only because of the set up with the white walls and drapes with the purple lights.

third night was not a planned day/night. we were going to leave this day but decided to stay one more night! we went shopping downtown and chilled for a bit then we went back to the apt to chill some more. We were planning to go to DUBLINS which was a bar in Isla Vista...but it was a fail! Every bar closed at midnight!! crazy!! but we had fun at the apt listening to good music and just being together.

i wish i took more photos...i keep forgetting to take them considering thats what this blog is for! My friends took a lot of pics tho so ill steal them on FB to put up here.
Here are a few...

Hoping For The Best.

First off i would like to say happy 24th birthday to my brother Joey. I was not able to celebrate with him in tahoe but im sure he is having the time of his life.

Second... HAPPY NEW YEAR!

New years this year was awesome. i spent it with a few friends at my apartment and we did our gift exchange.
I was so happy with what i got! i got a Giants world series had and a hookah set!

It has been somewhat of an awkward start to the new year... bitter/sweet i should say.
I found out that my last day at Nordstrom is the 4th, which does not put me in much of a good position job wise. Im still in the system with Solstice so i might go back to them but work at the Market Street location in downtown San Francisco. On the other hand i was told that there might be a possible opening for a position in the handbags department and t.b.d. for women...i know NOTHING about handbags and women's clothing...well i have somewhat of a background working for GAP, but that is nothing compared to designer! so im in a dilemma and i cant decide what to do. I could interview with both departments and see if i get it and move up with Nordstrom or just take the safe route and go back to Solstice. The great thing about Nordstrom is that they hire within the company so i have more of a priority than new applicants. BUT do i really want to sell handbags and strictly women's clothing?! such a hard decision and so little time.

Aside from this time sensitive situation i will be taking a mini vacation with VJAKITS to Santa Barbra! We will be going to do our secret santa exchange. i cant wait!
